Our Story

The story of Hudson Valley Monuments is rooted in nearly a century of dedication to families, craftsmanship, and compassionate care. Originally founded as George W. West Monuments, the business was purchased in 1953 by John Wittgen and later passed to his daughter, Marianne Hanner. With her daughter Lorraine, Marianne guided the company—known for years as Hillside Memorials—into a trusted source of guidance and support for families across Westchester County.

Throughout this journey, Marianne developed a long-standing relationship with Charles Minozzi of Travis Monuments. Their shared passion for the memorial industry and commitment to community forged a lasting connection between the Hanner and Minozzi families. Their children, Lorraine Hanner and Anthony Minozzi, quite literally grew up in the industry together learning the values of craftsmanship, integrity, and family service side by side.

When Lorraine made the difficult decision to step away from the memorial industry in 2025, it was only natural that she entrusted the business to the Minozzi family. With deep respect for the traditions established by the Hanner family, Anthony Minozzi has taken the helm, bringing new energy and a renewed commitment to both the property and the community. Hillside Memorials has been renamed Hudson Valley Monuments, and becomes part of the Travis Monument Group, preserving the heart of the original business while enhancing its capabilities and reach.
